2-12-'07 ARIËN VAN WEESENBEEK - NEW DRUMMER OF EPICA After having worked as a session drummer with the band Epica for about a year, I decided to join then as a full-time drummer! It's going to be a killer-time and I'm really looking forward to the upcoming shows and all other activities. Cheers, Ariën
No worries for the God Dethroned-fans by the way; I'm staying with them too and we'll keep on rocking!

Hey people!
Here's a little overview of what happened the last couple of months, because it's been a while, hasn't it? Well, let's start from my last web-posting about my Amedia & Balbex-endorsements, and my
Epica-studiorecordings. I'm still very excited about the Amedia-cymbals, man, what great material and sound!! I recently got another opportunity to play them live again, but I'll talk more about that later on.
There'll be a special Amedia-drummersday, featuring 6 metal-drummers, supported by Patsticks (importer of Amedia & Balbex) upcoming Saturday (21 april). I'm sure it will be a lot of great playing, and thus ofcourse, great fun! Most of you already know this is going to take place, but I just mention it anyway, despite my delay, haha.
The recordings with Epica made me a proud guy as well! It was a great musical collaboration that I had with Ad in the Gatestudio's in Germany. I'm sure this will be one hell of a spectacular Epica-album, and with much power, groove, bombast, atmosphere.... The mixing and mastering is taking place as we speak, and it's just going to be killer stuff!! There are some pics on the website from the recording session, including a broken resonance-head from the snaredrum. Don't ask me how that could happen... I just don't know. Lucky I had a spare one there, haha.
In the beginning of the newyear, I got a great opportunity to play with the Belgian death/grind band Aborted! Man... that was really sick what happened there, haha!! Pure energy. I played three gigs with them in February: one in Eindhoven (Holland), one in Vosselaar (Belgium), and one in Paris (France). Great guys to play music with, and a lot of fun as well. Their new album is released on Februay 19th, and it's become one killer-assault! Make sure you check it out and buy it! Thanks again to Svencho, Peter, Seb, Matty, Stijn, Lyn, and Lena, and to all the people of the band 'Distorted' for a great time!
So, what about God Dethroned? We had a really great time last year during the Blitzkrieg IV-tour, together with Severe Torture and Vader: 40 shows in 43 days! Very good for shaping up!
During this tour, our latest album came out, called 'The Toxic Touch', and the album is doing great so far! We have done cool shows in between, and last weekend we went to Oslo for the first time! It was totally worth the trip, and we had an amazing time there! Thanks again to the audience, the staff of the 'Rockefeller', the promotors, and to the guys of 'Legion of the Damned' for keeping us company during our flights, haha. Cheers guys!
That same weekend, we also played on the KillerFest in Chaulnes (France), which was totally killer as well!! Great returning there after two years and meeting old friends, and new friends.
And of course the Dutch Metal fest 2007... Man, that was one hell of a great experience!! A big thank you as wel to Roman, Ralph, all the staff, all the bands, and the killer audience!!
Currently we're working on a tour later on this year. I'll keep you updated about that (this time it's for real, hehe). Till next time.

I'll be appearing on the new studio-album of the Dutch metalband EPICA!
I knew the band from my work with Ad for the debut album of DELAIN: 'Lucidity'. and also from the time in the project SIC with Coen and Yves.
I'll only appear on the album.

Great news! I will be endorsing 'Amedia'-cymbals, and 'Balbex'-sticks!! My jaw immediately dropped when I first heard these cymbals: very powerfull, and a warm, musical sound that cuts through with the right response. Now my drumming will even sound more musical and powerfull, haha!
I'd like to thank Patrick vd Kerkhof of Patsticks Import for his great hospitality and all his help.
